Reason For Manchester United vs Aston Villa Betting Tips
Red Devils’ run continues
Manchester United were afforded a huge slice of luck on Tuesday as a late deflected goal handed them a 1-0 victory over Wolves at Old Trafford, and there’s no denying the Red Devils are riding a growing wave of momentum right now.
They are unbeaten in nine Premier League games and have won seven of them, pushing them up to 2nd in the table and just two points shy of reigning champions and current leaders Liverpool.
Even their home form has started to improve, with a 6-2 demolition of Leeds before Christmas making it three wins and one draw in their last four home league matches.
Villains defy the odds in push for Europe
Aston Villa are by no means pushovers though. The Villains picked up a point at Chelsea on Monday and are unbeaten in five games, and victory for them on Friday could move them up to 3rd.
Dean Smith’s side were widely tipped for the relegation battle in pre-season but have so far confounded the critics but, with their next four league games coming against Manchester United, Liverpool, Spurs and Everton, this period could make or break their unlikely push for Europe.
High scoring home win expected on Friday
What we can expect on Friday is plenty of goals. Manchester United have seen an average of 3.6 goals per game in the Premier League this season and five of their last seven outings have featured three or more goals. Villa have averaged 3.0 goals per game and seven of their last ten have featured three or more goals, so we’re backing the overs here.
We do think the hosts can continue their good form here as well. They have scored exactly three goals in four of their last nine outings but have kept just two clean sheets, so a 3-1 correct score prediction appeals.
Bruno Fernandes also catches the eye in the anytime goalscorer market. The Portuguese maestro has had a hand in 17 Premier League goals this season and has scored ten of those himself, scoring three goals and assisting three more in his last three top flight outings.
Manchester United injuries and team news
Victor Lindelof remains a doubt for this, with Eric Bailly likely to continue partnering Harry Maguire at the heart of Manchester United’s defence.
Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic could drop out of the starting lineup in favour of Fred and Scott McTominay, while Anthony Martial is expected to replace Edinson Cavani up top.
Aston Villa injuries and team news
Tyrone Mings will return for Aston Villa after serving his suspension, while Ross Barkley is also expected to jump straight back into the starting lineup.
Barkley will occupy a central role and allow Jack Grealish to move to the left again, while the in-form Anwar El Ghazi will play on the right
