Reason For Atalanta vs Roma Betting Tips

Key points Atalanta - Roma

  • Atalanta have won six straight games in Serie A, and are unbeaten in ten.
  • Despite beating Spezia 2-0 on Monday night, Roma have won just three of their last seven league games, and have lost five of their last seven on the road.
  • Only champions Inter have scored more than Atalanta’s 37 league goals this term, or created more than their tally of 30.2 expected goals.

Conclusion Atalanta - Roma

Roma inconsistent, Atalanta emerge as challengers

Roma have not beaten Atalanta since August 2017, and after losing five of their last seven away league games, can’t be confident of ending that run on Saturday, against a team who’ve won six on the spin in Serie A.

Although Jose Mourinho’s Roma beat lowly Spezia 2-0 on Monday evening, they have won just three of their last seven league games, losing the other four. They’ve experienced away defeats against the likes of Venezia and Bologna in recent weeks, and were hammered 3-0 by champions Inter a fortnight ago, managing just a third of possession in that match.

Atalanta are one of few teams who could challenge Inter for their Scudetto, and managed a huge win at Verona last weekend with a heavily rotated team. The Bergamo-based side have won six consecutive games in Serie A, scoring nine goals in their last two home games as they annihilated Spezia and Venezia. With only Inter bettering Atalanta’s 37 league goals this term, even the special one may not be able to keep Gian Piero Gasperini’s thrilling team at bay.

Mourinho already frustrated, Atalanta should have too much

Atalanta’s recent run of form has seen them emerge as challengers at the top of Serie A; with Juventus, Napoli and surprise package Verona all being swatted aside by Duvan Zapata and company, I wouldn’t hold out much hope for a Roma side which doesn’t travel well.
