Reason For West Ham vs Aston Villa Betting Tips
Hammers continue to impress
West Ham’s promising start to the 2020/21 Premier League campaign continued last weekend as they ground out a 1-0 win away to bottom-of-the-table Sheffield United, pushing them to 8th in the table and just six points adrift of the top spot.
The Hammers, after losing their opening two matches, have now only lost one of their last seven top flight outings and even that was an unfortunate and narrow defeat away to reigning champions Liverpool.
During this period they have picked up impressive points against Wolves, Leicester, Spurs and Manchester City, and more recently have picked up three points against Fulham and Sheffield United. The future is looking bright for David Moyes and company, and another win could be on the cards here.
Villains form tails off
Aston Villa have also enjoyed an unexpectedly good start to the season after narrowly avoiding relegation last term. They opened the campaign by winning each of their first four games, including a sensational 7-2 demolition of Liverpool.
However, their form over the last few weeks has begun to dip. Their 2-1 loss at home to Brighton last time out made it three losses from their last four games, and they have conceded nine goals in these outings.
Goals at both ends expected
While they are struggling defensively, Villa’s attack remains a big threat. They have scored in all but one of their eight top flight matches this season and have netted seven goals in their three away games.
Their defensive issues can’t be ignored though, so backing both teams to score appeals here and we think West Ham can take advantage of the Villains recent downturn. The Hammers have scored 1.67 goals per game on average and conceded 1.11 at the other end, so a 2-1 correct score prediction is our choice.
West Ham injuries and team news
Andriy Yarmolenko is likely to miss out again as he approaches the end of a self-isolation period after testing positive for COVID-19.
Michail Antonio is the only other injury concern and is a doubt here, leaving Sebastian Haller to lead the line after his goal at Bramall Lane last weekend.
Aston Villa injuries and team news
Ross Barkley was forced off early on against Brighton last time out and could be out for some time, joining Bjorn Engels, Frederic Guilbert and Wesley on the sidelines.
Tom Heaton remains a fitness doubt alongside Bertrand Traore, Keinan Davis and Kortney Hause.
