Reason For West Bromwich Albion vs Leicester Betting Tips

  • West Brom won just three of their final 11 Championship matches last term.
  • Leicester won 13 out of 18 points against promoted teams last season, losing just one out of six fixtures.
  • Only three clubs kept more clean sheets in the Premier League than Leicester last season (13).
  • Leicester scored exactly two goals in 10 of their 18 league wins in 2019/20.

Baggies bounce back

West Brom return to the Premier League this season after two years of Championship football, though somewhat understandably, Slaven Bilić’s side are among the bookies’ favourites to drop out of the top tier at the first time of asking.

Albion collected an impressive 83 points to secure the second automatic promotion place behind Leeds in the Championship last term, though the Baggies return of just three wins from their last 11 fixtures saw them limp over the line and suggested that their players ability to cope with pressure was limited.

With West Brom’s only transfer business of note the permanent signings of loan duo Matheus Pereira and Grady Diangana from Sporting CP and West Ham respectively, Bilić’s squad has gone largely strengthened this summer, increasingly the likelihood of a season of struggle for the club.

Leicester’s clean slate

Leicester City were denied a spot in the Premier League’s top four on the final day of last season when they were beaten at home by Champions League qualification rivals Manchester United.

The final day loss was a fitting full stop to what had proved a miserable end to the campaign for the Foxes, who won just four of their last 17 fixtures in a collapse caused by a massive drop off in form.

It’s easy to forget just how formidable an outfit Brendan Rodgers’ team were in the first half of the 2019/20 season however, and with talented young players like Harvey Barnes, James Maddison, Wilfred Ndidi, Youri Tielemans and Demarai Gray battle-hardened after a year of ups and downs, Leicester look better equipped to maintain their consistency this term.

Ben Chilwell, who exited the King Power Stadium to join Chelsea over the summer, is a big loss at left-back however, though Belgian international Timothy Castagne, signed from Atalanta, could prove a smart replacement for half the price.

Leicester to start with a win

With points to prove and wrongs to right, Leicester will be determined to start the 2020/21 Premier League season with their best foot-forward, and the Foxes look superb value to gather three points at West Brom’s expense on Sunday.

City took 13 points from 18 in games against newly promoted outfits last term, and having started the previous campaign like a house on fire with just two defeats in their opening 17 fixtures, Leicester have already proved that they can come out of the blocks quickly.

After their ropy end to the Championship season (three wins in 11), and a modest summer transfer window, West Brom’s confidence could be fragile at the Hawthorns on Sunday, and we expect a higher-class Leicester team to capitalize.

Alongside our away win forecast, we like the look of a 2-0 Leicester victory for our correct score prediction. With last season’s Golden Boot winner Jamie Vardy leading the line, and a technically talented supporter cast behind the veteran hitman, City have the tools to unlock a Baggies defence that kept just five clean sheets in 23 Championship home matches in 2019/20.

It’s also worth noting that only three clubs bettered Leicester’s 13 clean sheets in the Premier League last season, and against a WBA frontline that failed to register in three of their final six home matches last term, we’re backing the Foxes to start their campaign with a shutout.
