Reason For West Bromwich Albion vs Burnley Betting Tips

  • West Brom have conceded 13 goals in their opening four Premier League games.
  • Burnley have conceded in each of their last four top flight matches, shipping eight goals in three this season.
  • Three of the Clarets’ last nine league matches have ended in 1-1 stalemates.

Baggies resigned to relegation scrap

West Brom fans have enjoyed just 86 minutes of glorious optimism this season as they led took a 3-0 lead over Chelsea in gameweek three. However, they collapsed under Blues pressure to draw that game 3-3, and they continued their winless streak last time out.

They fell to a dismal 2-0 loss at Southampton before the international break to make it one point from a possible 12, leaving them with an aggregate scoreline of 13-5 after four games and already looking ahead to an almost inevitable relegation battle.

Monday could be a chance for them to claim that first win of the season though as they face a Burnley side in a stretch of poor form of their own.

Thin squad exacerbates Burnley troubles

The Clarets have lost all three games this season, most recently losing 3-1 away to Newcastle after defeats to Leicester and Southampton. That being said, they do have plenty of Premier League experience and they will feel this is their best chance yet to get that first point on the board.

Indeed, Sean Dyche’s men ended the 2019/20 campaign having lost just one of their final seven top flight matches. This Burnley squad is stretched thin right now, but if any man can turn it around it’s Dyche.

The visitors major issues this season stem from the back, and that means this could actually be a more entertaining game than a first glance would suggest. Both teams have scored in two of their three games so far and they’re facing a surprisingly attack-minded Baggies outfit.

Defensive issues to prevail at the Hawthorns

Slaven Bilic’s side have scored five goals in their last three games and should be able to trouble a Burnley side without a clean sheet all season, but their own defence looks shambolic and it’s hard to see them keeping a clean sheet against anybody right now. Backing both teams to score looks the way to go on Monday.

We do think Burnley will secure that first point of the season as well, and with three of their last nine top flight games ending in 1-1 stalemates that’s our choice for the correct score prediction.

West Brom injuries and team news

Kenneth Zohore and Hal Robson-Kanu are both ruled out here while Callum Robinson is unlikely to feature due to COVID-19 protocols, meaning new arrival Karlan Grant could be set for his debut here.

Kieran Gibbs is back after his suspension and both Branislav Ivanovic and Ahmed Hegazi have recovered from injuries.

Burnley injuries and team news

Sean Dyche remains without the sidelined Ben Mee, Jack Cork and Matthew Lowton, while Kevin Long is a doubt after picking up a facial injury on international duty.

Johann Gudmundsson also took a knock during the international break, but Jay Rodriguez could return from the sidelines after recovering from injury.
