Reason For Watford vs Burnley Betting Tips

  • Watford picked up their first Premier League win of the season when they beat Norwich before the international break.
  • Burnley could move as high as 5th or as low as 16th depending on the result on Saturday.
  • Watford haven’t won a home Premier League fixture since their 4-1 win over Fulham on 2nd April.
  • The Hornets have drawn four of their eight league matches since Quique Sanchez Flores returned to the club in September.

Watford’s managerial switch paying off?

Watford’s 11th place finish in the Premier League last season saw their perennially spinning managerial merry-go-round come to a temporary halt, but after picking up just one point from their opening four matches the notoriously thin patience of the Hornets’ hierarchy finally wore out.

Javi Gracia was dumped in favour of Quique Sanchez Flores, and while things did improve marginally his return to Watford hasn’t exactly been a roaring success. That being said, he will be hoping their 2-0 win over Norwich before the international break can renew some faith in the squad.

They have picked up seven points in the eight games since Flores’ return to Vicarage Road, and many will think they have a chance to add to that as they welcome Burnley on Saturday.

Difficult fixture list masks Burnley’s true potential away from home

The Clarets won’t go down without a fight though. Their 3-0 win over West Ham last time out leaves them in a respectable 10th place, although the battle for mid-table spots is incredibly close right now. Victory could see Burnley move as high as 5th in the table, while defeat could send them plummeting down to 16th.

While Burnley’s form has been admirable this season, things aren’t quite clicking when they’re on their travels. They are yet to win an away game in the Premier League, although the fact they have drawn half of them is an encouraging sign. It’s also worth noting that all of Burnley’s away defeats have come against teams currently occupying the Premier League top six.

Watford’s wait for first home win expected to continue

The visitors will understandably fancy their chances against a Watford side who are yet to win at Vicarage Road this season, and who’s last Premier League win at home came all the way back at the start of April. For this reason, these odds for a Burnley Win or Draw Double Chance look an attractive proposition.

That being said, we are expecting the spoils to be shared on Saturday. Watford have drawn four of their eight games since Flores took charge, including three of their four home matches. Burnley have drawn half of their trips away, and with two of those ending as 1-1 stalemates we think backing a repeat of that scoreline is worth considering.
