Reason For Toulouse vs Monaco Betting Tips

  • Toulouse have lost five of their six Ligue 1 matches under new manager Antoine Kombouaré, failing to score from open play in the last three games.
  • Monaco have won just once on the road this season but have four victories in their seven home games.
  • Monaco haven’t lost any of their last five clashes with Toulouse.

Monaco failing to build momentum

Just when it seemed like Monaco were building up a head of steam, they went and blew it away to Bordeaux last week. Bordeaux have been a team in form of late but so were Monaco, so to see them lose this crucial clash that could have moved them up eight places to sixth was extremely disappointing. They continue to wallow in 14th, with the third-most goals conceded in Ligue 1, but a trip to an awful Toulouse side could be the way to get some wind back in their sails.

Much of les Monegasques’ dismay has come on the road so far, though, with four of their last five defeats all coming away from the Stade Louis II. Their home form has been rather good but they have picked up just five of a possible 21 points away from the Stade Louis II. However, they have kept up their attacking prowess by creating the second-most chances of any Ligue 1 team away form home this season; so Toulouse may just be the side to get their second away win of the campaign against.

Woeful Toulouse can’t find points anywhere

Toulouse will equally be looking at Monaco as potential targets for their second win of the Kombouaré era. It hasn’t been an easy start for the New Caledonian coach as Toulouse have lost five of their six league games under the new man. Not all of these defeats came against extremely good sides either, as very beatable teams like Rennes (3-2) and Nantes (2-1) managed to get the better of them.

Toulouse have scored three goals in their last four league games but one was a penalty and the other an own goal, so there is a lot of improvement to be made at the top end of the pitch. Les Violets’ defence has been even worse, with them conceding the joint-most goals in Ligue 1 since Kombouaré’s arrival. Toulouse look even worse than they were under Alain Casanova and we don’t think that will change here as they host Monaco.

A clash of two out-of-form teams

Leonardo Jardim’s Monaco haven’t been great on the road recently but we feel they have enough quality in their team to get past this woeful Toulouse side. Les Monegasques haven’t lost any of their last five clashes with Toulouse and we’re expecting them to get the three points. The visitors usually aren’t great on the road but the hosts currently aren’t great anywhere so we’re backing this to end 3-1 to the away side.

Monaco have two clean sheets in their last four away games and with Toulouse failing to score from open play in their last three games, we can see this one being a tight win for the away side. Jardim’s men have scored a single goal in three of their last four away games, so that is what we’re predicting.
