Reason For Tottenham vs Sheffield United Betting Tips
Tottenham have pride to restore
Tottenham will be licking their wounds following a limp display in last week’s Carabao Cup final defeat to Man City, though a date with bottom club Sheffield United should allow Spurs to exorcise some demons.
Ryan Mason cut a disconsolate figure on the sidelines at Wembley as Man City toyed with his team in Sunday’s showpiece fixture, and though Tottenham only lost by a single goal, they really didn’t have a kick against the dominant Citizens.
Interim Spurs boss Mason will want to see far more cut and thrust from his players against the Blades and with a fitter Kane leading the line, Tottenham should be able to repair some of their fractured confidence.
Sheffield United force a victory
Sheffield United ground out just their fifth win of the campaign against goal-shy Brighton in their last outing thanks to an early David McGoldrick effort, though the Blades shouldn’t be expected to spring another surprise at Spurs.
United have been dreadful on the road in 2020/21 and having already lost 14 of their last 16 Premier League away assignments this season, another disappointing jaunt outside the Steel City awaits in the capital.
Win and a clean sheet for Spurs?
Sheffield United have failed to score in five of their last six away matches and in seven of their last nine games away from Bramall Lane overall, and we expect the Blades to draw a blank again in London on Sunday.
With a point to prove following their lifeless display at Wembley, Tottenham should come out of the traps quickly this weekend and a routine victory against the division’s worst team should follow.
Bettors are advised to back Spurs to win to nil against the blunt Blades as a result, while our 3-0 correct score prediction tips Harry Kane and Son Heung-min to lead the charge against the Premier League’s third-worst defence.
Spurs notched three goals when they last played Sheffield United in January and they can match that haul in Sunday’s return fixture.
Tottenham Hotspur injuries and team news
Ben Davies is still out for Tottenham, while Matt Doherty is rated as a doubt. Gareth Bale, Moussa Sissoko, Tanguy Ndombele and Dele Ali are line to start having been named on the bench against Man City in last weekend’s Carabao Cup final.
Sheffield United injures and team news
Jack O’Connell, Billy Sharp, Oliver McBurnie and Chris Basham are ruled out for Sheffield United, though Jack Robinson and Sander Berge are closing in on a return to the fold.
