Reason For Tottenham vs Bournemouth Betting Tips

  • Spurs won back to back games for the first time this season against West Ham and Olympiakos this week.
  • Saturday’s game will be Jose Mourinho’s first Premier League home game in charge of Tottenham.
  • Bournemouth scored two or more goals in six of their last 11 EPL away matches.
  • Spurs conceded twice in each of their first games under Mourinho’s direction.

Mourinho’s perfect start

Jose Mourinho maintained his 100% start as Tottenham manager in mid-week, after he helped to mastermind his team’s 4-2 comeback Champions League win over Greek outfit Olympiakos in North London.

Spurs continental triumph followed quickly after a 3-2 win over West Ham at the weekend, allowing Tottenham to win back-to-back matches for the first time this season and for the first time since early April.

With spirits high and the new manager bounce in full effect, Mourinho will be confident that his team can complete a hattrick of wins against Bournemouth on Saturday.

However, behind Spurs’ positive early results under the controversial Portuguese boss, the team’s defensive problems remain, and Tottenham conceded twice in each game en-route to eventually coming out on top.

Tottenham’s defensive problems highlighted

In total, Spurs kept a clean sheet in only three of their last 14 games in all competitions, and it’s worth pointing out that those blanks were earned against low-level opponents Colchester United and Red Star Belgrade (twice).

In the Premier League, Tottenham have just one clean sheet to their name all season after 13 games, and with Toby Alderweireld and Davinson Sanchez still largely underperforming in central defence, we don’t expect Spurs to keep Bournemouth out on Saturday.

With one win from their last seven Premier League outings, the Cherries will arrive in North London in appalling form, though Bournemouth have at least rediscovered their goal-scoring touch of late.

Eddie Howe’s men had failed to score in three out of four games between the 6th and 26th of October, though things have started to improve in the final third a little, and Bournemouth managed to register in each of their last three attempts.

Goals on the cards in North London?

With Tottenham mixing a ruthlessness in attack with a penchant for leaving the door open at the back under Mourinho, we think Spurs’ meeting with Bournemouth has the look of an exciting open game.

Stretching a little further back beyond Mourinho’s tenure – the goals figures continue to look promising. Tottenham’s last 10 matches in all competitions averaged a staggering 4.1 goals per 90 minutes, while Bournemouth’s last dozen Premier League games on the road returned an average of 3.66 goals per contest.

For those reasons, we like the look of the over 2.5 goals and both teams to score combination for Saturday’s game, while our correct score prediction follows the same route and we’re forecasting a 3-2 Tottenham win.

While Spurs have looked potent in attack under Mourinho so far, hitting the net seven times in 180 minutes of action, gaps remain at the back that Bournemouth will feel they can exploit.

The Cherries are an efficient counter punching team on the road, and they hit two goals or more in six of their last 11 Premier League away games since the back end of last season.

We think Bournemouth will enjoy the open spaces afforded to them by Tottenham’s stuttering defence, though Spurs superior class and goal-getting power should eventually tell.
