Sides set for battle in Sydney

Allianz Arena will host the first Sydney derby of the new season this weekend, with Sydney FC taking on Western Sydney Wanderers.

Sydney FC have only played once so far this season and were able to pick up a 2-1 win against Wellington Phoenix, despite being below their usual level. They’ve managed to keep the core of the side that won the A-League last season and will hope to be able to have Bobo back at their disposal after he rejoined the club.

Western Sydney Wanderers started the season with a 1-0 loss to Macarthur but were able to put that initial disappointment behind them when they picked up a 2-1 win over Newcastle Jets last weekend with the side looking like they could be a dangerous prospect this season.

This match will be a hotly contested one with the Sydney derby one of the fiercest in the league and this year should be no exception as the two sides jostle for an early advantage in the new season and it should be a really open affair.
