Reason For Southampton vs Leeds Betting Tips

Key points Southampton - Leeds

  • Leeds have conceded in ten of their last 11 competitive away games.
  • Southampton have seen both teams score in eight of their last nine home matches.

Conclusion Southampton - Leeds

Saints look for end-of-season flourish

Southampton and Leeds both put in excellent second-half performances on Saturday to earn themselves comfortable victories over Fulham and Burnley respectively, and with little left to play for in the Premier League we can expect both sides to throw caution to the wind again on Tuesday.

The Saints’ 3-1 win was their second successive victory by that scoreline and the returning St. Mary’s faithful will be hoping for more of the same, but three points won’t come easily against a Leeds side that look determined to end the season with a bang.

Leeds still in European hunt

Leeds put four past Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday to make it five wins, three draws and one defeat in their last nine games and, with only three points separating them from Spurs at the time of writing, European qualification isn’t entirely out of the question.

Everton and Spurs do have a game in hand so it is an outside chance for the Whites, but given how this season has panned out anything is possible.

Goals at both ends on the cards at St. Mary’s

What we can expect on Tuesday is plenty of goalscoring action. Southampton have scored ten goals in their last four home matches and will be buoyed by the return of home supports, but their defence remain fragile. They have conceded in each of their last nine home games, failing to score just once in return.

After back-t0-back failures to score against Manchester United and Brighton, Leeds have rediscovered their goalscoring touch with seven goals in their last two matches, but they have conceded in ten of their last 11 competitive away games and a clean sheet against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side is unlikely, making both teams to score my pick of the bunch on Tuesday.

I’m expecting a tight game between two in-form teams here. Southampton are unbeaten in four at home and Leeds have only lost one of their last four on the road, and given how their attackers have performed lately a high-scoring 2-2 draw looks attractive for a correct score prediction.

Southampton injuries and team news

Southampton are still without Oriol Romeu, Jan Bednarek, Ryan Bertrand and William Smallbone. Theo Walcott could earn a place in the starting lineup after scoring from the bench on Saturday and Che Adams will continue to partner Danny Ings up front.

Leeds injuries and team news

Rodrigo could make the starting lineup after netting a brace from the bench at Burnley while Robin Koch could return from injury. Adam Forshaw and Helder Costa are ruled out, with veteran Pablo Hernandez also a doubt.
