Reason For Saint-Etienne vs Nice Betting Tips
Nice a different team away from home
It was a confident performance from les Aiglons on Saturday as they beat 3rd placed Angers 3-1. Patrick Vieira’s men had been in a bit of a sticky patch until recently but have managed to resurface themselves with two wins and a draw in their last four matches. These results all came against some pretty tough opponents so fans will be happy with the performances but they have another difficult one here as they travel to Saint-Étienne.
The real Achilles’ Heel for Nice this season has been their away form as they have lost five of their seven matches on the road. They haven’t earned a point away from home since early September and have slipped up against some very beatable teams like Strasbourg (1-2), Nantes (0-1) and Ligue 2 side Le Mans (2-3) in the cup. They’ve conceded twelve goals in their last six away games and Saint-Étienne will be looking to capitalise on this.
Defence the best form of attack for Sainté
Claude Puel’s Sainté side have slowed down in recent weeks after their whirlwind first few games under the Frenchman. They have won just one of their last five games in all competitions with a loss and two draws in their last three games. ASSE fans must be happy with their side’s defensive improvements though as they have been much more solid when playing at home. They have four clean sheets in their last six home games but just the three goals from open play in this time so they could do with some improving up top.
Since Puel has joined the club, Saint-Étienne have created the third least chances of all Ligue 1 teams. However, they have picked up the third most points in that time by keeping the scores low and the matches narrow; three of their four wins under Puel in the league have come by a 1-0 scoreline.
The games haven’t been the most exciting for the neutral but they have been effective and we think this tactic will bring them all three points again here. Despite some lacklustre performances, Sainté have won four of their last seven league games and are unbeaten in their last three clashes with Nice. Les Aiglons have also been awful away from home, failing to score in two of their last three league outings so we’re backing this one to finish 1-0 to the hosts.
Home win: 2.37
Away win: 3.13
Over 2.5 goals: 2.12
Under 2.5 goals: 1.73
