Reason For Newcastle vs Everton Betting Tips

  • Newcastle are unbeaten in eight Premier League home games, with their last defeat at St James’ Park coming against Arsenal on the opening day of the season.
  • Everton have won just one of their nine Premier League away games this season.
  • The Toffees, however, are unbeaten in the four league games since Marco Silva was sacked.
  • Newcastle and Everton have averaged 1.11 and 1.00 goals per game in their respective home and away matches.

Newcastle progress clear despite Boxing Day drubbing

An unusually mistake-ridden performance at Old Trafford on Boxing Day saw Newcastle relinquish a 1-0 lead to Manchester United, eventually trudging back to the north east on the back of a 4-1 drubbing.

As disappointing as their performance was, the fact that this sort of result is no longer a regular occurrence is testament to how far Newcastle have progressed this season. That’s especially true over the last couple of months, which has seen them lose just three of their 10 league games and propelled them up to 10th in the table.

Every one of these three defeats have come away from home as well, and Steve Bruce looks well on his way to turning St James’ Park into something of a fortress. The Magpies haven’t lost a league game at home since their opening day defeat to Arsenal, and even that was a rather undeserved 1-0 win for the Gunners. Four wins and four draws have been played out since then, including a victory against Man Utd and a draw with Man City.

New wave of optimism as Ancelotti gets off to winning start

Everton fans also have cause for optimism. Carlo Ancelotti was given a fantastic reception at Goodison Park as he took charge for the first time on Boxing Day, and after surviving a few early scares The Toffees were rewarded with a 1-0 win against Burnley.

It was far from a stellar performance, but the fact remains that the talented Everton team are finally moving in the right direction. They are now unbeaten in four league games and have hauled themselves four points clear of the relegation zone.

That being said, The Toffees have a pretty dreadful away record this season. They have won just one of their nine league away games and have only won four of their 18 trips away in 2019.

Fortress of St James’ Park could prove tough to penetrate

Ancelotti may have picked up the three points against Burnley, but this trip to Newcastle could prove a more difficult task. The Magpies have made themselves incredibly difficult to beat at home, and Everton’s general malaise away from home this term makes a Newcastle Win or Draw Double Chance look fantastic value for money.

We’re not expecting a home win though. Four of Newcastle’s home games have ended all square and Everton are enjoying a four match unbeaten streak at the moment. That, combined with Newcastle averaging 1.11 goals per home game and Everton averaging 1.00 goals per away game this season makes a 1-1 correct score prediction look a favourable option.
