Reason For Milan vs Napoli Betting Tips

One of the biggest clashes of the Serie A weekend comes as these two sides try to recover from tough runs of form. Both could have started better, while this fixture has rarely seen them struggle so badly. Napoli (19 points) and Milan (13 points) will clash on MD13 with a combined 32 points: since Napoli’s return to Serie A back in 2007/08, this is the lowest combined points tally between the two sides after 12 matches in the league. Who will boost that tally here?

AC Milan are still hoping they can kick off a Champions League push, with their ace still their lack of European football. It hasn’t helped them so far, but could the Rossoneri start to turn things around here? While it hasn’t exactly been a blissful period for the hosts, they look like an idyllic football club compared to Napoli right now.

Napoli’s problems continue to mount with pressure on boss Carlo Ancelotti, who has been linked with a return to Milan. He’s reportedly facing the sack after an awful run of form, which has seen the Partenopei fall from title contenders to a side struggling to make the top four. With AC Milan and Liverpool up next – two clubs with 13 European Cups between them – he allegedly has two games to save his job. However, their off-field issues make a turnaround unlikely.

The visitors are winless in five, which has hit their domestic and European ambitions. Alongside that run the club are in mutiny, with the players walking out two days into a planned seven-day training camp. Owner Aurelio De Laurentiis is reportedly fielding offers for the club while attempting to dock as much as half the players’ salaries. Meanwhile, the players are reportedly using their salaries to hire bodyguards. The backlash from the club’s own Ultras is so severe it has even seen players move their family out of Naples.

Ancelotti returns to his former club trying to solve all of those problems, while Napoli’s big names are unsurprisingly linked with January exits. It’s far from a happy camp and that hands a vital lifeline to Milan. The hosts have lost narrowly to each of Roma, Lazio and Juventus of late, but they are among the league’s form teams. Milan should prefer facing a Napoli side who have won just twice in their last eight Serie A trips, having scored four in each of their two away league wins this term.

With just five goals in their last five games they’re unlikely to repeat that, while the Partenopei have drawn two and lost one of their last three trips to face AC Milan. Given the scale of the problems for the visitors, we are backing Milan on the double chance market. However, we don’t expect the hosts to entirely turn around their fortunes. The hosts have scored fewer than two goals in 10 of their 12 matches this season, so we are backing a 1-1 draw after seeing Napoli draw four of their last five matches.
