Reason For Manchester United vs Liverpool Betting Tips

  • Liverpool have seen both teams score in four of their last five matches in all competitions.
  • No team inside the top 16 has drawn more games than Manchester United in the Premier League this season.
  • Both teams have scored in three of Manchester United’s last four home games.

Midweek goalfest boosts Red Devils’ confidence

A dreary goalless draw at Elland Road last weekend for Manchester United was followed by a bizarre and dramatic 6-2 win against Roma in the Europa League and the Red Devils will be hoping to carry that goalscoring touch into a clash with arch-rivals Liverpool.

With ten points between them and the top spot and a 12 point cushion inside the top four, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side actually have very little to play for in the Premier League but that won’t stop the fans demanding a strong finish to the campaign and a win against Liverpool would be the perfect way to start the run in.

Reds on the hunt for Champions League qualification

Unlike their rivals, Liverpool have an awful lot to play for. The soon-to-be dethroned champions are 13 points adrift of their hosts and four points off a top four spot. Their draw with Newcastle last weekend made it three draws in a row in all competitions and their brief resurgence looks to have hit a roadblock.

One positive for Jurgen Klopp’s side is the return of their goalscoring touch. They have now scored in seven of their last eight games in all competitions and they haven’t failed to score away from home since the start of January.

Stalemate on the cards at Old Trafford

Keeping Manchester United out at the other end might be a problem, though. The Reds have conceded in five of their last six games and Manchester United have failed to score in just one of their last 12 competitive matches, so backing both teams to find the net looks a decent shout on Sunday.

In the end a stalemate looks the most likely outcome here. Liverpool have drawn three in a row in all competitions and no team in the top 16 have drawn more Premier League games than Manchester United this season. Half of these ten draws have come against fellow big six sides, including one at Anfield in January, so we’re opting for a third 1-1 scoreline in a row for Liverpool on Sunday.

Our 30/1 Manchester United vs Liverpool bet builder also backs a close game, as Man United double chance is among our four selections.

Manchester United injuries and team news

Anthony Martial and Phil Jones are the only confirmed absentees but Paul Pogba is unlikely to play the full game as he continues to fast for Ramadan, with Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani likely to join forces.

Liverpool injuries and team news

Liverpool are still without a host of defenders and Fabinho is likely to drop back to partner Ozan Kabak at centre back. The formidable trio of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are set to lead the attack.
