Reason For Levante vs Celta Vigo Betting Tips
Levante show their resilience
Levante endured a miserable start to December with a 4-0 hammering at Getafe and a 2-4 derby defeat at home to Valencia, but they showed their resilience and battling qualities away to Granada last weekend.
With Granada averaging two points per game at home, Granotas’ trip to Los Carmenes looked tricky considering they had lost six from eight on the road this season, but they ground out an important 1-2 victory thanks to a late winner from Enis Bardhi.
The result solidified Levante’s mid-table position, and boss Paco Lopez will be content overall with how his side have performed in the first half of the campaign. They have an opportunity to move into the top half of the table over the Christmas period if they can beat Celta Vigo this Sunday, and they look overpriced to do just that based on last weekend’s performance, their 3-1 November home win against Barcelona, and the sizeable gap between the teams in the La Liga standings.
Missed opportunity for Celta
Celta are nine points behind Levante in 18th, and they missed a real chance to move out of the relegation zone when they entertained 17th placed Mallorca at Balaidos last weekend.
A win for Celestes would have seen them leapfrog the Balearic Islanders, who travelled to Galicia on the back of seven away defeats from seven this season.
But Celta could only manage a 2-2 draw despite twice taking the lead through Rafinha and Iago Aspas, and they remain in the drop zone going into the final round of fixtures before Christmas.
The bookies rate Oscar Garcia’s side at around 13/8 to make amends this Sunday – odds which make zero appeal considering Celta have won just one of their last nine La Liga matches.
And Celestes’ current plight is largely due to their abysmal away form, with just one win and five defeats posted from their nine outings on the road so far this term.
Levante worth chancing despite past meetings
It’s undoubtedly a little disconcerting that Celta have triumphed on their last six visits to Ciutat de Valencia, but Levante did avenge last season’s 1-2 reverse with a resounding 1-4 success at Balaidos in February.
Granotas are not the most reliable of teams as their overall record this term implies (W7, D2, L8), but we think that they can best Celta again this weekend to land their fifth home win of the campaign.
Paco Lopez’ side ran into form teams Getafe and Valencia at the wrong time prior to last weekend’s win at Granada, and they notched consecutive victories at home in November.
With Celta toiling on all fronts, epitomised by their failure to see off the worst away team in La Liga last weekend, the hosts are worthy of a two point stake this Sunday with a 3-1 scoreline forecasted.
The visitors have managed to score in each of their last four away matches, and they can continue that trend here against a Levante defence who have conceded in each of their last four outings at home. It should prove to be no more than a consolation though, as Levante have fired in eight goals in their last three at home, which will give them huge confidence against a Celta defence which has leaked ten in their last four on the road.
Home win: 2.61
Away win: 2.59
Over 2.5 goals: 1.71
Under 2.5 goals: 2.15
