Reason For Lazio vs Juventus Betting Tips

  • Two of the top three meet in Rome this weekend.
  • Immobile has scored in each of his last 9 league games, hitting 13 goals.
  • Lazio have scored twice in each of their last 9 league matches.
  • Juve have seen both teams score in four of their last five away league games.

Showdown at the Top

There’s a clash between two of Serie A’s top sides on Saturday night, as Juventus face a major test in the capital. These two sides are into the top three in the table following strong runs of form.

Juventus are the only unbeaten side in all competitions among teams in the top five European leagues this season (W15 D4). Meanwhile, Lazio have won their last six league games: the Biancocelesti have never had a longer run in the first half of a Serie A season. Following that run, these two Italian heavyweights go head to head.

Both Sides in Scoring Form

The visitors have impressed with a more varied approach to the scoring burden, with Cristiano Ronaldo falling from his high standards. Instead, Gonzalo Higuain and Paulo Dybala have stepped up to make an impact, leading this Juve side to average 1.73 goals per game in Serie A. They are looking to add to that, especally as Juventus’ Paulo Dybala has scored seven Serie A goals against Lazio, against no other team has he scored more.

For the first time in their history, Lazio have scored at least two goals in nine Serie A games in a row. From 2000 onwards, only two teams recorded a longer run in a single top-flight season: Inter (10 in 2006/07) Atalanta (10 in 2019/20). They have a great chance to equal the record, with Ciro Immobile in great form. Immobile is the third player in Serie A history to score at least 17 goals in his team’s first 14 seasonal league games, after Antonio Angelillo (21 in 1958/59) and Felice Placido Borel (17 in 1933/34).

The striker has found the net in nine straight league games, scoring 13 times in that run. After scoring in each of his last six home league games, we’re backing Immobile to score in this clash.

Goals at the Olimpico

It’s hardly a shock that we expect goals following that fine run for both sides. Lazio have scored in 100% of their home games, while Juve have found the net in their last 11 matches. Both sides have so much attacking talent that both teams to score seems like a solid price here, having landed in four of Juve’s last five away trips in Serie A.

Juventus have lost only one of their last 29 Serie A games against Lazio (W22 D6), and only once have they not scored in that run. Meanwhile, Lazio’s last home win against Juventus in Serie A was back in December 2003. The pair have similar records with Lazio unbeaten at home and Juve unbeaten away, each winning five of seven games. However, expect them to share the points this weekend, as we’re backing a 2-2 draw.
