Reason For Huddersfield vs Blackburn Betting Tips

  • After their midweek defeat, Huddersfield have won just 2 of their last 9.
  • Blackburn have drawn 3 of their last 4 games in an 8 match unbeaten run.
  • 6 of the last 7 meetings between these two have been drawn.
  • 50% of Huddersfield’s home games have seen exactly 2 goals scored.

Terriers Still in Danger

Huddersfield’s survival fight took a hit on Boxing Day, as they lost a crucial clash with Middlesbrough. The hosts were beaten 1-0 at the Riverside, which has left them only four points clear of the drop. Now the home side are aiming to boost a poor run of form, which has seen them win just twice across their last nine Championship matches.

However, can Huddersfield find a way past a Blackburn side who are on an impressive unbeaten run? Recent history suggests not, as Rovers have drawn four of their last five trips to Huddersfield, while the pair played out a 2-2 draw when they met at Ewood Park earlier this season.

Blackburn Run Continues

The visitors were held on Boxing Day, drawing 1-1 with Birmingham at Ewood Park. That result suggests that Rovers could be slowing down, having gone eight games without defeat in the Championship. That run has taken them up the division, but they’ve failed to keep up their brilliant winning run. The visitors have drawn three of their last four matches.

They can still be pleased with their recent progress, which has taken them into the top 10 in the Championship. The playoffs are still a possibility for the visitors, but they’ll have to improve on just four wins from their 12 away trips so far this term. Given that they head here with one defeat in 11 meetings with Huddersfield, Blackburn should take something from this one and extend their unbeaten stretch.

Honours Even?

Both sides are in very different positions ahead of their clash on Sunday. However, there could be very little between them on the pitch. Blackburn’s impressive eight-game unbeaten run has to be a factor here, but the fact that they’ve drawn three of their last four is a worry. Blackburn are unbeaten in their last three Championship away games (W2 D1), but they are hoping for back-to-back wins on the road for the first time since April.

Six of the last seven league matches between Huddersfield and Blackburn have been drawn, with the Terriers winning the other in April 2016. Meanwhile, Blackburn have lost none of their last six away league games against Huddersfield, winning two and drawing four since a 3-2 defeat in August 1999 under Brian Kidd.

Since losing their first home game under Danny Cowley (0-2 v Sheffield Wednesday), Huddersfield have only lost one of their last eight Championship games on home soil (W3 D4). We expect them to continue that solid form, but the Terriers have won just 25% of their home games so far. That has us backing a draw between these two. Given that 50% of their home matches have seen exactly two goals scored, we’re also going with a 1-1 draw.
