Reason For Crystal Palace vs Brighton Betting Tips
Hodgson heads into milestone match in good spirits
Roy Hodgson will take charge of Crystal Palace for the 100th time on Monday evening as his side host Brighton, and the Eagles are coming into their penultimate game before Christmas in high spirits.
Their goalless draw at Watford was hardly the stuff of dreams last weekend, but it does leave them in a very respectable 10th position as we approach the halfway point, and they could even move as high as 6th with a victory on Monday. Of course, that would require an awful lot of luck earlier in the weekend, but the fact that they’re closer to the top five than to the relegation zone is cause for celebration in itself.
That stalemate with Watford last weekend made it three games without defeat for Palace, and this success has undeniably been built on a foundation of solid defending. Only Leicester have kept more clean sheets than Hodgson’s men this season, while only bottom of the table Watford have failed to score in more games than them.
Limited squad could prove fatal for Brighton
Brighton will be hoping to take advantage of the low scoring hosts, but while their season as a whole is going fairly well there are definitely some concerns floating around. One such concern is the fact that they’ve lost over half of their away games, and they’ve only actually won three of their 17 Premier League away days since the start of 2019.
Graham Potter has done an excellent job since taking charge on the south coast, and Brighton’s four point cushion on the drop zone is testament to that. However, Saturday could see his rather limited squad starved of opportunities against the well organised Palace defence, and that tips the scales in the hosts’ favour.
Selhurst Park’s goal starvation set to continue
Crystal Palace have lost three of their eight home games this season, but these all came against the current top three in the Premier League. It’s a different story when they host less capable sides – they have won three of their four home matches against teams currently in the bottom half of the table.
All things considered, backing a Crystal Palace Draw No Bet on Monday looks a very good value option. As far as the correct score prediction goes, it’s hard to look further than a low scoring affair. Crystal Palace have kept a clean sheet in all four home games against bottom half clubs this season, but have averaged just 0.75 goals per game at Selhurst Park. Brighton, meanwhile, have failed to score three times on the road, making a 2-1 win for the hosts look the best option.
