Reason For Chelsea vs Southampton Betting Tips

Key points Chelsea - Southampton

  • Under 2.5 goals has landed in seven of Chelsea’s ten competitive matches this season.
  • Southampton are unbeaten in their last three trips to Stamford Bridge.
  • Four of the Saints’ last five Premier League games have featured fewer than three goals.

Conclusion Chelsea - Southampton

Chelsea feeling blue after poor run

Chelsea failed to win for the third successive game in all competitions as they slumped to a disappointing defeat in Turin on Wednesday night and they could find it difficult to break this spell when they face Southampton on Saturday.

The Blues looked favourites for the Premier League title just a couple of weeks ago but a poor showing against Manchester City last weekend, followed by their loss to Juventus, has brought Blues fans back down to earth.

Saints look to strong record against Chelsea

Southampton won’t be easy opposition for Tuchel’s hosts, either. The Saints may be without a Premier League win this season but they have lost just two of their six games and have taken a point from both Manchester clubs already.

What’s more, the Saints are unbeaten against Chelsea in their last three meetings and have taken five points from their last three trips to Stamford Bridge.

Low-scoring game expected at Stamford Bridge

It’s unlikely to be one for the neutrals, though. Southampton have scored just four league goals this season and are without a goal in three matches, while Chelsea have drawn a blank in each of their last two outings but have only conceded five goals in all competitions this season.

Under 2.5 goals has landed in seven of Chelsea’s ten competitive games this season and in four of Southampton’s last five league games, so that’s what I’m backing on Saturday.
