Reason For Brighton vs Manchester City Betting Tips

Key points Brighton - Manchester City

  • Manchester City have conceded in five of their last six competitive away games.
  • Manchester City have scored exactly two goals in six of their last eight away games.

Conclusion Brighton - Manchester City

Welbeck form boosts Seagulls’ attacking output

Brighton may be safe from relegation but it’s nevertheless been a disappointing Premier League campaign for Graham Potters’ Seagulls. They head into the final two games of the season 17th in the table and, with matches against Manchester City and Arsenal to end the campaign, they are unlikely to climb much further up the ladder.

The hosts’ main issue this season has been their lack of goals but promisingly this has started to improve over the last few weeks, with goals in each of their last three games and just three defeats from their last nine in the Premier League.

Danny Welbeck has been the driving force behind this improvement, scoring four of Brighton’s last seven goals and grabbing their only goal of the game in their 1-1 draw with West Ham on Saturday. He will be hoping to take advantage of a Manchester City side that conceded three at Newcastle on Friday night.

Pep targets strong finish to the season

The Citizens have already secured the Premier League title but played their part in an enthralling fixture on Tyneside, with a Ferran Torres hat-trick earning them the three points in that seven-goal thriller.

They may have already wrapped up the title, but with a Champions League Final on the horizon there is no doubt that Pep Guardiola will want to keep the good times rolling for the final two games of the domestic season.

Goals at both ends expected at the Amex

A win for the visitors is expected at the Amex, but Brighton should have enough about them to get on the scoresheet. Manchester City’s previously impenetrable defence has lapsed in the last month as they have kept just one clean sheet in their last six away matches.

Couple that with Brighton’s Welbeck-inspired surge and backing both teams to score looks solid. A 2-1 win for the visitors also appeals, with City scoring exactly two goals in six of their last eight on the road.

Brighton injuries and team news

Lewis Dunk and Neal Maupay remain suspended after their red cards at Wolves, while Davy Propper, Joel Veltman, Solly March and Tariq Lamptey are all injured. Danny Welbeck will spearhead the attack ahead of Leandro Trossard and Alireza Jahanbakhsh.

Manchester City injuries and team news

Kevin De Bruyne is unlikely to be risked as he recovers from a knock and the departing Sergio Aguero is also a major doubt. Pep-roulette is likely to be out in force, but Ferran Torres should get the nod after his heroics at Newcastle and Gabriel Jesus could lead the line.
