Brighton favourites to progress

League One outfit Blackpool are targeting another Premier League scalp when they travel to Brighton for the Fourth Round of the FA Cup, though the Seagulls have what it takes to see off their plucky opponents this week.

Blackpool were one of the previous round’s giant killers when they eliminated top-flight strugglers WBA on penalty kicks in early January, and The Tangerines showed enough attacking intent in their 2-2 normal time draw to suggest they can impact the scoresheet again at the AMEX Stadium.

Brighton were also taken to spot-kicks in their Third Round test against League Two side Newport County, however, with home advantage key, Albion are expected to get the job done inside 90 minutes this weekend.

The Seagulls reached the semi-finals of last season’s FA Cup, and Graham Potter’s team selection at Newport suggested the Brighton boss is targeting another lengthy run in the competition this time around.

A strong Brighton XI should progress this weekend then, though it could be achieved without a clean sheet against a Blackpool team that look ready to compete again.
