Reason For Brest vs Strasbourg Betting Tips
Strasbourg on the up
Strasbourg were one of the standout teams in France last season as they ended PSG’s five year dominance of the Coupe de la Ligue by beating Guingamp in the final. This earned them a place in the Europa League qualifiers but so much early season football slightly scuppered their form in the first few months of the campaign with them sitting in the relegation zone by September. However, Thierry Laurey is a great coach and they have since shot right up the table to 13th with a series of impressive results.
The Alsatians have won three of their last five games with ten goals scored and four conceded along the way. They did lose their match against a good Lyon side at the weekend but shouldn’t let this affect their momentum as they have generally been very impressive. They are drawn for most goals scored in the last five matches and have created the second most chances of any Ligue 1 side in this time and will be hoping to show that against Brest.
Brest struggling to cope with the step up in quality
Brest are one of two newly promoted teams this season but they have struggled with the step up in quality as they currently sit 15th, three points above the relegation zone. Les Ty’Zefs are winless in their last four games with three defeats and are arguably the most out of form side in Ligue 1. Olivier Dall’Oglio’s men have created the fourth most chances and conceded the most chances of any team in their last four games.
Brest’s home form has been slightly better but there are still cracks at the Stade Francis-Le-Blé. They’ve won two of their last six games there but these both came against teams currently in Ligue 1’s bottom four. Les Ty’Zefs have struggled against teams of quality like Rennes (0-0) and Nantes (1-1) and we feel Strasbourg will be too much for them here.
Conceding too many at the Stade Francis-Le-Blé
Brest have been alright going forward at home this season with eight goals in their last six matches at the Stade Francis-Le-Blé so we’re backing them to convert here against Strasbourg. However, Dall’Oglio’s men have been conceding so many chances recently and with Strasbourg scoring four goals in two of their last three matches we’re expecting a few goals here. We think this will finish 3-1 to the visitors.
Home win: 3.28
Away win: 2.34
Over 2.5 goals: 2.34
Under 2.5 goals: 1.60
