Reason For Bournemouth vs Liverpool Betting Tips

  • Liverpool are looking to extend their already massive eight-point lead at the top of the table.
  • Bournemouth are on the slide and have lost four league games on the spin.
  • Liverpool scored more than two goals just once away from home in the league this season.
  • Liverpool were unable to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 12 games in all competitions.

Contrasting mid-week results

Bournemouth and Liverpool endured and enjoyed highly contrasting fortunes during the Premier League’s mid-week progamme on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

The Cherries fell to a 0-1 reverse at Crystal Palace – a result that extended the dreadful run of form that has seen Bournemouth tumble down the standings at an alarming rate.

In total, Bournemouth picked up maximum points in just one of their last nine league matches since late September, and this weekend they are staring down the barrel of their fifth defeat on the spin.

Liverpool on the other hand just keep on winning. The Reds dismantled Everton 5-2 in the Merseyside Derby on Wednesday, hitting the net from each of their five attempts on target during their 90-minute battering of their local rivals.

Senegalese star Sadio Mane was once again central to their success, and Jurgen Klopp’s relentless title favourites set a new club record of 32-league games unbeaten after their latest triumph.

Liverpool leaving the door open at the back

Liverpool would have been disappointed to have shipped two goals at the other end at Anfield however, and remarkably, the Reds were unable to keep a clean sheet in any of their last twelve matches in all competitions.

In the Premier League Liverpool kept their opponents out only twice in 15 attempts this term, and we think the Reds frustratingly leaky defence will concede again this weekend.

There is nothing to suggest however that Bournemouth’s goal will be anything other than a consolation. With four defeats in a row, the Cherries are statistically the worst team in the Premier League at present on recent form, and having lost to Liverpool in each of their last four meetings by an aggregate score of 14-0, Bournemouth will fear the worst again this weekend.

Liverpool both won and conceded in each of their last seven Premier League victories, and with their defensive headaches showing no signs of clearing, we expect that pattern to be maintained this weekend.

Expect goals at either end

With that considered, the Liverpool win and both teams to score combination looks the best avenue of approach for Saturday’s game, while our correct score prediction settles on a 2-1 Reds’ win.

Liverpool’s meaty Derby win in mid-week was just the second time they had scored more than twice in a run of 10 league matches, and six of the club’s last top-flight wins were secured by narrow 2-1 scorelines. The Reds have also only scored more than twice in one Premier League away game since the summer.

While Bournemouth have found points hard to come by, they have at least shown an aptitude for keeping the score down. The Cherries conceded two or fewer goals in 10 of their last 11 Premier League matches, and we’re backing them to keep things respectable this weekend.
