Reason For Arsenal vs Manchester City Betting Tips

  • Arsenal sit 9th after just one win in their last eight Premier League games.
  • Manchester City left 14 points adrift of Liverpool after shock Manchester derby defeat last weekend.
  • The Gunners have scored in 88% of their league games this season, including all eight home fixtures.
  • Manchester City have only kept a clean sheet in 31% of their Premier League games this term and have conceded in six of their eight away matches.

Ljungberg shows little sign of stopping the Arsenal rot

Arsenal almost suffered a huge setback on Thursday night as they ended their Europa League group stage campaign with a draw away to Standard Liege. This allowed them to finish top of the group, but at 2-0 down with 15 minutes left their future in the competition was anything but assured. Fortunately they popped up with a late double to seal the top spot, but it’s a telling indication of how life is at the Emirates right now.

Freddie Ljungberg will take the reins again on Sunday, and it’s safe to say that this hasn’t been the most successful of interim appointments so far. They did manage to beat West Ham on Monday, but after their draw with Standard Liege on Thursday he has now won one, drawn two, and lost one of his four games in charge.

Ljungberg can hardly shoulder the blame though. Arsenal are a club in crisis right now, looking back on a record of one win from their last eight Premier League games and finding themselves down in 9th position as we approach the halfway point. The Gunners have won just five league games this season, and all of those came against teams currently in the bottom half of the table.

Manchester City facing herculean task to defend their title

Life isn’t looking too peachy at Manchester City either. They may have easily topped their Champions League group, but their Premier League title defence is hanging by the thinnest of threads. A shock 2-1 defeat at home to arch rivals Manchester United last weekend leaves them a massive 14 points adrift of Liverpool, and they’re even six behind Leicester.

Still, they have a more than respectable record of five victories from their eight Premier League away games, with only a shock defeat against Norwich and a rather more expected loss at Anfield tarnishing their losses column.

Return to winning ways expected for Manchester City

We’re expecting the Citizens to get back to winning ways here, largely because of the ineptitude of the Arsenal team right now. The Gunners have only won three of their Premier League home games and come into this having lost their last four top flight meetings with Manchester City.

However, they have managed to find the net in every one of their home games, and with Man City keeping just two Premier League clean sheets on the road this season we think a Manchester City Win and Both Teams to Score is a great bet.

As you might expect, we’re leaning towards a rather high scoring match here. Arsenal have shipped an average of 1.5 goals per game at home this season, with Manchester City netting 2.75 goals per away game. The visitors have scored three or more goals in half of their away matches and have scored exactly three in three of their last five meetings with Arsenal. Guardiola’s side have conceded 1.37 goals per game away from home too, so a 3-1 correct score prediction looks a tasty option.
